Founder of McInnis Mental Health Solutions | Austin, TX
Twenty years ago, unsure of where life was headed, I took a job as a prison guard. Within weeks, I realized I didn’t want to just enforce rules—I wanted to help people change their lives. That realization set me on the path to becoming a therapist.
Since earning my Master’s in Social Work from UT Austin in 2010, I’ve worked in ERs, crisis centers, juvenile justice programs, and private practice. I specialize in helping adolescents and young men—especially those facing trauma, anxiety, substance use, or identity struggles. My approach is straightforward and results-oriented. Whether we’re addressing long-standing trauma with EMDR or tackling day-to-day challenges with solution-focused therapy, my goal is to help you make real progress, not just talk in circles.
I’ve been in the field for nearly two decades and bring deep experience in:
Trauma-informed care (EMDR, DBT)
Adolescent and young adult mental health
Substance abuse counseling
Crisis intervention
Logotherapy and meaning-focused coaching
Many of my clients are young men between 13 and 35—often struggling with emotional regulation, disconnection, or identity. I get it. I grew up without strong male role models myself and know what it’s like to feel unbalanced. Therapy with me isn’t about judgment—it’s about figuring out what’s not working, making sense of it, and getting back in the driver’s seat of your life.
I offer therapy that’s practical, direct, and built for people who want to feel better—not just talk about it.
